Hi Heather,

We’re thrilled to spotlight the incredible work of one of our talented DHC members, Heather Ferreras-Tokan, founder and principal designer of Tokan Interiors!

Based in South Florida, Heather brings a unique blend of creativity and craftsmanship to each project. Originally from Queens, New York, she moved to Florida in her mid-20s, where she channels her passion for design into creating spaces that reflect her clients’ personalities. Heather believes that great design can transform how you feel, and her goal is for clients to see an elevated reflection of themselves when they walk into their homes.

Heather’s work is inspired by the diversity of South Florida’s design styles, from bold and dramatic to serene and vibrant. She’s especially influenced by the energy of the Wynwood Art District in Miami, and her designs often reflect the dynamic, evolving trends of the area. Working alongside her husband, who leads the construction side of Tokan Interiors, Heather’s studio combines design expertise with quality craftsmanship to deliver truly stunning results.

Fort Lauderdale Living Room

In Fort Lauderdale, FL, Heather transformed a small, empty space immediately visible upon entering the home and adjacent to the family room. Her aim was to preserve the home’s modern design while adding a subtle touch of drama and simplicity. She accomplished this by applying dark matte paint to the walls, introducing custom dark drapery, and incorporating a white boucle sofa with matching side chairs. Carefully selected brass and marble accents completed the look, striking the perfect balance between boldness and elegance.

Warm Midcentury Bedroom

The Warm Midcentury Bedroom combines comfort with playful mid-century silhouettes and a touch of modern edge. Beige, white, and peach linens create a soft, inviting palette, while a bold black hanging light above the side table adds an exciting contrast, echoed by the black wall panels. The result is a vibrant and airy room, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style.
